The best hotel and tourism operators in Ireland were recently recognized at the 30th CIE Tours International Awards of Excellence. These awards took place in Christchurch Cathedral in Dublin on January 28, and a total of 84 awards were presented on the night. The great-granddaughter of Rose Fitzgerald Kennedy joined Irish taoiseach Leo Varadkar to open Ireland’s longest bridge on January 29. On this day in 1959, actor Aidan Quinn was born in Chicago to Irish immigrant parents. A leading actor of both the stage and film, he spent his childhood living in United States and Ireland. He moved to Dublin in his late teens, trying his hand at the local theatre scene. He made his New York debut in an off-Broadway staging of Sam Shepherd’s “Fool for Love.” He began receiving attention as a performer when he appeared in “Desperately Seeking Susan,” opposite Rosanna Arquette and Madonna. He has since starred in films alongside such acclaimed actors as Johnny Depp (“Benny and Joon”), Brad Pitt (“Legends of the Fall”), and Meryl Streep (“Music of the Heart”).
